My name is Leah, my middle name is Leela-Vardhani. Lila-Vardhani means variety. I use the creative pseudonym LeelaLia as a derivative of two names. I live in Saint Petersburg, Russia. I have been drawing my entire adult life, but as an artist my development is still ahead. In my work, I want to convey the spiritual essence of things, eternity and beauty, and a certain mystery of being. I strive to find my own visual language. In search of plastic solutions for their ideas.

I am inspired by various cultures, authors, trends. From sculptures of ancient India to Russian icons and graphics of the Soviet era. The Mughal miniature is interesting to me. A lot of things inspire me, it’s impossible to list everything. Everything that is beautiful and in tune with my inner aesthetics. Nature itself provides space for creativity in the mind. Music in tune with the mood helps to open up images.

For me, art means the reflection of reality through the prism of the author’s consciousness. Like a kind of mirror. Therefore, art can be very different. Personally, I paint because I can’t help but paint, this is my need. I would like to create my own ideal world of images. Although, I believe that everything has already been created, rather, you need to find it, tune in your own way. I would like my works to evoke spiritual emotions.

I studied for a long time, and I still study. But I think the most important thing in creativity will not be taught anywhere. This is everyone’s personal work. I am now just at the stage of finding myself and becoming on the creative path.

I first learned the basics of fine art at an art school, then I entered an art school, after that I entered the Stieglitz Academy of Art for monumental decorative painting, did not finish my studies. After that she painted Orthodox churches in Russia. She entered the Repin Academy of Arts at the Faculty of Graphics. I also didn’t finish my studies. She left for India, Vrindavan to paint the temple. Now I live in St. Petersburg, I draw and participate in many exhibitions and projects.

I approach the creation of my works in different ways. It all depends on the idea and mood. I have been working on some ideas for years, redrawing, making more and more new sketches. Some images are born spontaneously in a short period of time. Sometimes someone’s clue pushes me to a new round of thoughts. Sometimes I see a picture or other work of art and it leads me to the birth of a new picture. Sometimes I work from nature. But the most important work for me is working with my consciousness. If there is a clear image and mood, then it’s up to the little to find on the canvas or paper space. True, sometimes there is not enough skill, but this is not the worst thing, with hard work everything is fixable. Sometimes inspiration comes, then drawing is easy, but you can wait for inspiration for a very long time. Therefore, by force of will, you have to sit down to work. Over time, you get involved in the process and inspiration comes. In general, I think that everything happens with God’s help. I can make efforts and the result does not depend on me.
