Lydia Kovalenko was born in the village of Antonovka (Koilyk), Taldykurgan region, in the family of teachers Vasily Stepanovich Kovalenko and Elizaveta Epifanovna. An architect by training, she showed a great interest in watercolor painting, with the result that what Lydia invented now exists in world art. This cannot be imitated, just as it cannot be copied.

It’s no secret that she literally made a “world revolution” in the technique of watercolor painting, called “warm frost”, which is admired by the Vatican, Japan, France, and the Chinese government gave her a gift in the form of a wonderful trip to Beijing, Shanghai, XUAR, and meetings with their outstanding figures in literature and art.

Lydia Vasilievna is a public figure. She is popular and loved not only for her unusually warm painting, but also for her enormous contribution to the cause of interethnic harmony, the importance of which can hardly be overestimated. For about fifteen years, her famous poems “Separate me from Kazakhstan”, “I am at home”, “My Dzungaria”, “Window to Europe” have not left the pages of periodicals and television screens … Lydia Vasilievna is the author of poetry collections “I am in the worlds” (1995 .) and “Lady Autumn” (2003).

Films have been shot, clips have been created, research articles have been written about the artistic and poetic work of Lydia Vasilievna. Reproductions of her paintings adorn Kazakh and Russian literary, artistic, poetic and periodicals, cycles of romances and songs have been written on her poems. Today, Lydia Kovalenko’s paintings adorn private and state collections in many countries of the world.
